RVA Endurance PT

In-home physical therapy for endurance athletes

PT that meets you at the trailhead, not in the waiting room

What is RVA Endurance PT?

I’m a physical therapist who works with runners, cyclists, and endurance athletes in Richmond (people just like you). I come to your house. It’s not a gimmick. It’s because clinic PT is 20 minutes of waiting for 20 minutes of someone’s attention, and you deserve better than that. With me, you get one hour of full, expert focus, every time.

I hold a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from VCU and a Master’s degree in Physiology and Biophysics from Georgetown. I race ultramarathons and bikes. I’ve read the research on your injury and probably have an opinion about it. I also have an opinion about your training plan, your cadence, and whether you should be foam rolling your IT band. (You shouldn’t. But we can talk about that.)

What I Do

In-Home Physical Therapy Sessions

Full orthopedic and sports physical therapy in your living room. Or your garage. Or your backyard. I’m flexible and I’ll make you moreso. I bring everything we need and work in your own space.

Cycling-Specific Assessment & Rehab

Mobility, strength, and on-bike mechanics for road, gravel, mountain, and TT riders. If your knee hurts at mile 40, your back locks up in aero positions, or your singlespeed causes pain, this is where we start.

Injury Prevention & Performance Optimization

Custom strength and mobility programming built around your training plan. Not a handout. An actual plan that accounts for your race calendar, your weak points, and what you’re doing this week.

Running Injury Rehab & Return-to-Run Programming

Shin splints, runner’s knee, Achilles problems, post-partum return to running. I’ll get you back on the road with a plan that doesn’t start with ‘just rest for six weeks.’

I’d been dealing with shin splints for months and was getting pretty frustrated. Luke not only helped with the pain but also taught me exercises to prevent it from happening again. My running feels so much better now and I know I can call him if I ever need help again.

The toughest part of being injured was not knowing when I should push through discomfort versus when I needed to back off. Luke gets swimmers and knew exactly how to modify my training so I could keep going while still healing. Instead of sitting out for weeks, I learned what was safe to work through. With his help, I was able to confidently train for and complete the marathon swim I had planned.

I was getting frustrated trying everything: stretching, foam rolling, you name it. Another PT told me just to stop riding, but I wasn’t going to do that. Luke figured out what was actually going on pretty quickly and tailored everything to what I needed. I finally found someone who gets that it’s not just about the injury but how it fits into your life.

About Luke

I’m Luke Hollomon. DPT from VCU, MS in Physiology and Biophysics from Georgetown, competitive ultramarathoner, road and mtb racer, swimmer, rock climber, and the only person you’ll see when you book with RVA Endurance PT.

Before RVA EPT, I spent four years running PT Crab, a clinical research newsletter that reached over 2,000 healthcare professionals. The whole project was about taking dense primary research and making it actually useful. I’ve carried that into everything here. The Knowledge Library on this site is the public version of that instinct. If I’m going to tell you something about your body, I want to be able to show you why I believe it.

I’m direct. I’ll tell you what I think is going on, how long I think it’ll take, and what you can keep doing while we fix it. I won’t tell you to stop running. (That almost never works anyway. Telling a runner to stop running is like telling a dog to stop being a dog.) I will figure out how to modify your training so you can keep moving while we address the actual problem.

How it Works

1. Free Consultation Call
We’ll hop on a quick call to talk about what’s going on. Your injury, your training, your goals. This is where I figure out if I can help and you figure out if you want to work with me.

2. Initial Evaluation (In-Home)
If we decide to move forward, I’ll come to your home for a full evaluation. We’ll look at your movement, strength, flexibility, and anything else that might be contributing to pain or limiting performance. You’ll get a clear explanation of what’s going on, what we’ll work on, and how we’ll get there.

3. Personalized Treatment Plan
Together, we’ll build a plan tailored to your sport, your goals, and your schedule. Sessions take place in your home (or outside if you prefer) and may include hands-on therapy, targeted strength work, mobility training, running or cycling form analysis, and education to keep you progressing between visits.

4. Progress and Adaptation
As you improve, we’ll adjust the plan to keep you moving forward. Whether you’re rehabbing a tough injury or just trying to stay pain-free through a heavy training cycle, I’ll help you make steady gains while reducing the risk of re-injury.

5. Return to Sport—Stronger
The goal isn’t just to get you pain-free, it’s to get you back to your sport better than before. You’ll finish knowing what went wrong, how we fixed it, and what to watch for so it doesn’t come back.

What does it cost?

Rate: $150 per hour
Each session is one-on-one, in your home, and completely focused on you—no techs, no crowded clinics, no cookie-cutter programs.

That said, I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance. Depending on your out-of-network benefits, you may be reimbursed for part or all of the cost.
